- Confit as a cooking food term describes when food is prepared in grease, essential oil or sugar drinking water (syrup), at a smaller temperature, when compared with deep baking.

- Confit arrangements are done at a much lower heat. The term is usually used in modern food to mean long sluggish cooking in essential oil or excess fat at low temps such as in meals like confit taters. For meats, this method requires the meat to be salted included in the upkeep process. After salting and cooking in body fat, confit can last for a lot of weeks or years when covered and kept in an awesome, dark place.
