Grandma Jones' Kitchen: Old Time Cooking and a Hillbilly Legacy - Paperback

by Trisha Faye (Author)

Where did most of us learn to cook? From our mothers - who learned from their mothers. Grandma Jones is the matriarch in our family that passed down her traditions of simple, yet tasty, down home cooking. In Grandma Jones' Kitchen, family favorite recipes are shared - many from Grandma Jones and a lot from other family members too. Some recipes date back to the 30's and 40's. Others are treasured recipes gathered over more recent years. Included here are almost 70 recipes including: -Copper Pennies -'More' -Marshmallow Delight -Aunt Melba's Lemon Cake -One Egg Cake -Pear Honey ...and more! We can't share our hillbilly heritage without talking about moonshine and how a moonshine legacy started this whole branch of the family. Papa Goss and his little side business from the holler in Arkansas is the magic ingredient that got Bea and Casey together - and the prodigious numbers of offspring are grateful for that. Cooking on a wood stove...that's how Grandma learned to cook. That's her stove that's on the cover. Also included is Hazel's Spice of Life - a Vintage Daze Short Story. If you like old time cooking, or reading family memories, you'll enjoy this tribute to Beatrice Jones (1917-2003), the Grandma Jones we all love and miss.
