For readers of Ocean Vuong, André Aciman, and Patricia Engel, Remember Me is a sweeping portrait of desire, privilege, and a love that defies borders, class, and expectation.

A driven Chicago editor shattered by the office fire that claimed his best friend, Gabriel flees to Bogotá in search of an impossible silence. Ensconced in the pristine, carefully curated world of his wealthy ex-lover, Diego, he trades the ashes of his past for a suffocating safety. Shielded but hollow, Gabriel masters the art of looking away-at grief, at guilt, at the parts of himself that feel too dangerous to name.

Everything shifts in a single crossing of Plaza Bolívar. There, amid the press of bodies and noise, he meets Mateo, a Venezuelan refugee selling fruit to survive the day. Mateo is raw where Gabriel is restrained, scarred where he is polished, fiercely alive where he has gone numb. Drawn to each other across the stark divide of class and circumstance, the two men begin a connection that neither safety nor survival should allow. What begins as recognition deepens into a love that challenges the fragile structures protecting them both.

As the desperate realities of survival force Mateo back toward the border of a fractured Venezuela, Gabriel must decide whether he will remain hidden inside privilege-or risk everything for a future with a man the world has taught him he should never choose. Intimate, urgent, and devastating, Abraham Randall's Remember Me is a story of displacement, reckoning, and the radical courage it takes to be seen.
