Tarzan the Untamed: A Positronic Book - Hardcover

by Edgar Rice Burroughs (Author)

First published in 1920, Tarzan the Untamed places Edgar Rice Burroughs's jungle hero against the backdrop of the First World War, intensifying the series' themes of vengeance, loyalty, and survival.

When Tarzan believes that Jane has been killed during wartime conflict in Africa, his grief transforms into relentless pursuit. The novel shifts from the mythic tone of earlier jungle adventures to a darker register, as Tarzan confronts both human adversaries and the brutal uncertainties of a world at war. Burroughs juxtaposes the code of the jungle with the machinery of modern warfare, creating a narrative in which primal strength and instinct collide with twentieth-century violence.

Blending espionage, wilderness pursuit, and psychological extremity, Tarzan the Untamed stands apart within the Tarzan canon for its severity and sustained momentum. It remains a key entry in the series, demonstrating how Burroughs adapted his enduring character to historical crisis while preserving the elemental force that defined him.
