The Absurd Burden of Family: A Cautionary Tale - Hardcover

by S. Alvaurence (Author), H. Alvaurence (Illustrator)

This is not a tale touting the wonderful bonds of family connections. It is not a tale where heartwarming speeches lead to evocation of love and reconciliation. It is a tale denoting the absurdity of human connection - the humour and sorrow therein - and the longstanding suffering families can inflict on their unwilling members.

Lady Eugenia Gastrell's charmed life ends abruptly when faerie dealings lead to her favourite son being stolen to the Otherworld. Decades later, her mad attempts at recovering him are sabotaged by his sudden reappearance. The chaos that ensues serves as a bloody warning to the perils of family ties, expectations, and overbearing mothers in this satiric fairytale. This is H&S Alvaurence's debut novella - a standalone humourous observation of family interwoven with magics from beyond. Additionally, there are over nine richly composed illustrations by award winning fantasy illustrator, H. Alvaurence, further breathing life and creativity into this fairytale.
