"The fire will grow and illuminate the dark! But lies run deep and traitors emerge into the light. It has begun."

These are the words foreshadowed to Tamsin in the depths of the desert city of Empyria...

"Death is the only thing I am capable of."

These are the words spoken by Haven, a mysterious stranger who has come to challenge Empyria's dam...

I didn't realize...I didn't know that it would kill her.

These were the words written in a letter, illuminating a crime long buried in the past, with consequences reaching across time and sand...

The death of a lord forces Tamsin Urbane and her parents to move to Empyria, but after an accident leaves Tamsin stranded in the dunes, she must rely on the help of a daunting stranger, whose presence illuminates an unbelievable gift and an even more impossible truth. Haven, a nocturnal hunter from the fertile tribal villages of the marshlands, has come to confront the Empyrians, but a growing affection for Tamsin creates an unwelcome obstacle, for love is not an option for his kind.

Past demons, social prejudice, and a crushing tragedy threaten to overwhelm these two outsiders. When a hidden foe's terrible designs are uncovered, will Tamsin and Haven be able to stand against it? Or will their enemy tear both their worlds apart?
