The Preserve Book 1: The Grand Quest - Hardcover

by Kai Üwe (Author)

EARTH: 6725 The remains of humanity live inside the confines of four huge Preserves, massive tracts of land enclosed by impenetrable concrete walls. Built by artificially intelligent robots, the Preserves saved the human race from extinction. Now they lie forgotten and unimportant as the robots colonize the solar system. Inside Europa-1, a Preserve large enough to enclose most of the old country of Germany, young Thaddeus Barley needs to know why the barrier exists. He will challenge his people's beliefs and unite the five villages of his world on the grandest quest ever attempted.

They will breach the ubiquitous wall.

Even in the long-ignored Preserves, grand quests get noticed. Two AIs monitor these events closely. Although it goes against the most important rule of the Preserve system, they allow the humans to proceed. To a point.

After all, it is the perfect opportunity to advance a grand project of their own.
